Fatal I-35 Multi-Vehicle Crash Under Investigation

|
A deadly crash on the I-35 W has taken the lives of at least 5 people. CBSDFW.Com reports that the freezing rain and sleet created hazardous conditions in North Texas, near Fort Worth.  The treacherous weather conditions led to the massive automobile crash that occurred around 6:30 a.m. on February 11th.

Upwards of 100 motor vehicles were involved, with many drivers and passengers trapped in their vehicles as they waited for assistance from rescue crews.

Along with multiple deaths, dozens of people sustained serious personal injuries in the pileup.

In a statement via twitter, Texas State Rep. Ramon Romero Jr. has indicated that he’s looking for answers into the factors that caused such a massive traffic accident, noting “We are hearing reports that the North Tarrant Express…was neither salted nor sanded.”

The investigation into this fatal multi-vehicle accident is ongoing.  Commuters were asked to avoid the area of the pileup accident for most of the day.
