At Hilliard Law, we believe that giving back is more than writing a check—it's showing up. Through The Hilliard Way, our team is committed to serving organizations that make a lasting difference in the lives of families across the Coastal Bend.
Few organizations embody hope and compassion quite like Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) of South Texas. The House provides a comforting "home away from home" for families whose children are receiving medical treatment, allowing them to stay together during some of life's most challenging moments. It is a place where kindness, comfort, and community come together when families need it most.
Hilliard Law has long been a proud supporter of the mission of RMHC of South Texas. While financial support is important, we also believe one of the greatest gifts we can give is our time. Throughout 2025, Hilliard Law employees rolled up their sleeves and spent time with the families at Ronald McDonald House, creating opportunities for laughter, creativity, and a welcome distraction from the challenges they were facing.
Our year of volunteering included:
- February – We shared the love by hosting a Valentine's Day celebration featuring cookie decorating, festive crafts, and sweet treats for families staying at the House. View photos on Instagram.
- March – Our team brought a little luck of the Irish with a St. Patrick's Day party filled with themed crafts, fun activities, and delicious treats.
- April – Thanks to the generosity of our employees, children and their loved ones enjoyed a festive Easter egg hunt filled with smiles, surprises, and sweet memories.
- June – As temperatures climbed, we helped families beat the South Texas heat by bringing in a snow cone bus, offering a cool and refreshing afternoon everyone could enjoy together. More on Instagram.
- July – In celebration of National Ice Cream Day, we created an ice cream sundae bar complete with favorite toppings and hosted a variety of crafts for children and their families. View the event on Instagram.
- October – We embraced the Halloween spirit by decorating doors throughout the House and passing out candy, helping create a festive and memorable experience for the children and their loved ones.
While each event looked different, the goal was always the same: to provide families with a few moments of joy during an incredibly difficult time. Whether decorating cookies, making crafts, enjoying a sweet treat, or celebrating a holiday together, our team was honored to help create smiles and lasting memories.
When asked about their favorite volunteer opportunities, Hilliard Law employees consistently place Ronald McDonald House Charities of South Texas at the top of the list. Time and again, they describe these experiences as some of the most meaningful and impactful moments of their year. Seeing the strength of the families, the resilience of the children, and the dedication of the RMHC staff serves as a powerful reminder that even small acts of kindness can have an extraordinary impact.
