3.6 Million Ladders Recalled Due to Serious Fall and Injury Risks

Product Recall: 3.6 Million Ladders Recalled

A major safety recall has been issued for approximately 3.6 million Little Giant ladders due to a potential fall hazard that could result in serious injuries.

On November 5, 2026, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recall of certain Little Giant ladders equipped with Rapid Locks. If the locking mechanisms are not fully engaged, the ladders can unexpectedly retract while in use, creating a dangerous situation for consumers.

The recall affects ladders sold nationwide, including at Lowe's, Costco, Amazon, and other retailers, between December 2015 and October 2026.

Serious Injuries Reported

According to the CPSC, Little Giant has received 25 reports of ladders unexpectedly retracting, including 19 reports of injuries.

Three reports involved serious head injuries, including traumatic brain injuries, skull fractures, concussions, vision loss, hearing loss, and cognitive impairment.

An additional 16 injury reports included broken bones, joint injuries, cuts, and bruising. The company has also received 39 reports of Rapid Locks not functioning properly.

Falls from ladders can have serious consequences, even from relatively low heights. This recall highlights the importance of checking equipment for potential safety hazards before use.

Which Little Giant Ladders Are Being Recalled?

The recall affects the following Little Giant ladder models equipped with Rapid Locks:

  • Adjustable Fortress 2.0

  • Conquest 2.0

  • Dark Horse 2.0

  • Epic

  • King Kombo XT

  • Leveler

  • MegaLite

  • MegaLite+

  • Multi

  • Quantum

  • Vector

The Rapid Locks are black or orange mechanisms located on each ladder leg that allow users to adjust the ladder's height.

Important: Only ladders without an orange rectangular "QC" sticker on the rail above one of the Rapid Locks are included in this recall.

Consumers are encouraged to check the model name located on the side of their ladder and compare it with the official recall information.

What Should Consumers Do?

The CPSC urges consumers to stop using recalled ladders immediately until they have reviewed the manufacturer's recall instructions and taken the appropriate safety measures.

Little Giant is providing repair kits containing additional warning labels and safety instructions. These instructions explain how to verify that the Rapid Locks are fully engaged before each use and how to maintain the locking mechanisms with lubrication.

Consumers should contact Little Giant to obtain the repair kit and follow the provided instructions.

If a Rapid Lock continues to malfunction after following the instructions, consumers should contact Little Giant for further evaluation.

If the locking mechanism still does not function properly after evaluation, eligible consumers may receive a replacement ladder or a refund. Refund amounts depend on the purchase date and may range from a depreciated value to the full purchase price.

Why Product Recalls Matter

Product recalls play an important role in protecting consumers from potentially dangerous or defective products. When manufacturers and federal safety agencies identify a potential hazard, recalls help notify the public and provide instructions for reducing the risk of injury.

Consumers should regularly check for recalls involving products used in their homes, workplaces, and everyday activities.

Staying informed, following safety recommendations, and addressing recalled products promptly can help prevent avoidable accidents and injuries.
