From Growing Up at Hilliard Law to Becoming an Attorney: Meet Corrigan Tobin
|

For Corrigan Tobin, joining Hilliard Law as an attorney is more than the beginning of her legal career. It is a full-circle moment at a firm that has been part of her life for years.

Long before she officially became an attorney, Corrigan was already familiar with the halls of Hilliard Law. As the niece of firm leaders Catherine and Bob Hilliard, she grew up around the people, work, and mission that would eventually shape her own career. What began with childhood visits and summer jobs developed into years of hands-on experience, a legal education, and a path to becoming an attorney at the firm she has long considered familiar ground.

On October 30, Corrigan took the next step in her legal journey as the Honorable Deeanne Galvan administered the Oath of Attorney. Surrounded by family, friends, and colleagues, she celebrated an exciting milestone years in the making, officially beginning her career as an attorney at the firm that helped shape her path.

Learning the Practice From the Ground Up

Corrigan’s connection to Hilliard Law began long before law school. As one of the firm’s first interns, she started learning about the legal profession at a young age and continued returning to the firm throughout high school, college, and law school.

Over the years, she took on a variety of roles, including intern, call center specialist, medical records assistant, and law clerk. Each experience offered a different perspective on the work behind a personal injury case and the many people who contribute to helping clients navigate difficult circumstances.

Her journey gave her the opportunity to learn the practice from the ground up, gaining firsthand insight into the firm’s day-to-day operations, the importance of teamwork, and the responsibility that comes with representing individuals and families.

Bob and Catherine Hilliard have long believed in the value of “growing their own” when it comes to building the Hilliard Law team. By investing in people early, providing hands-on experience, and creating opportunities for professional growth, the firm helps develop team members who understand its culture and commitment to clients.

Corrigan’s journey is a meaningful example of that philosophy in action. Having grown up around the firm and worked her way through several roles before becoming an attorney, she brings both a deep familiarity with Hilliard Law and a firsthand understanding of the work that goes into serving its clients.

Building a Foundation for the Future

Corrigan earned her bachelor’s degree in political science from Texas A&M University in 2021 before pursuing her Juris Doctor at St. Mary’s University School of Law in San Antonio, graduating in 2026.

St. Mary’s holds a special place in the Hilliard family. Both Bob and Catherine Hilliard are graduates of the law school, making Corrigan’s own legal education a meaningful connection to the family’s shared profession. That connection became even more personal at graduation, when Catherine had the honor of hooding Corrigan as she received her law degree. It was a memorable moment that celebrated both an important academic achievement and a family legacy in the legal profession.

During law school, Corrigan served on The Scholar: St. Mary’s Law Review on Race and Social Justice and was a member of the Public Interest Law Foundation. These experiences helped further develop her legal knowledge and understanding of the role attorneys can play in advocating for others.

With her admission to the Texas Bar in 2026, Corrigan has officially begun the next chapter of a journey that has been years in the making. From learning the ropes at Hilliard Law to earning her law degree at the same institution as her aunt and uncle, her path reflects years of dedication, growth, and support from those who helped shape her journey.

A Personal Approach to Personal Injury Law

As an attorney at Hilliard Law, Corrigan represents individuals and families in personal injury matters. She recognizes that people often seek legal representation during some of the most difficult and uncertain periods of their lives.

For Corrigan, one of the most meaningful parts of practicing law is building genuine relationships with clients. She believes in taking the time to listen, understand each person’s circumstances, and provide guidance and support throughout the legal process.

That commitment to personal connection reflects an understanding she began developing long before becoming an attorney: behind every case is a person or family looking for answers, support, and someone they can trust.

Looking Ahead

As Corrigan begins her legal career, she brings with her more than an education and years of experience. She brings a longstanding connection to Hilliard Law, a firsthand understanding of the firm’s people and culture, and a commitment to building meaningful relationships with the individuals and families she serves.
